Arnold and Mathilde Schönberg
1922

Arnold Schönberg Center, Wien

The veranda offered a clear view of the Traunsee. Apart from Schönberg’s pupils, whom he also taught during the summer holidays, Georg Alter also visited; he was the secretary of the Society
for Private Musical Performances in Prague and took several portraits of the composer and his family and sent them to them printed on postcards.
The Prelude from the Suite for Piano, op. 25 composed in June 1921 in Traunkirchen, is Schönberg‘s first twelve-tone work, while in 1922 he arranged Bach’s chorale prelude “Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele” for large orchestra there.
